I was born in Washington, D.C. on February 21st, and moved to Falls Church City, Virginia when I was 6. I lived in Falls Church for 12 years until I graduated from George Mason High School.

I enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University and graduated with a BS in Information & Decision Systems (IDS) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).

IDS, also known was Information Systems or IS in the real world is the study of databases and their implementations. The IDS program taught me how to design and implement databases. As more information is stored on computer systems, more and more complicated databases are needed to store this information and cull it into useful data for the organization which stores it.

HCI is the study of how people and computer systems interact. The core philosophy of HCI is that computers (and technology in general) have become too complicated for normal people to use. Usually technology, like a VCR, is designed from the engineer's point of view. People who are not engineers have trouble using a lot of technology... thus VCR plus, for example, - a product which is sold because VCRs are too hard to use. The major problem is that most people don't blame the product's engineers, instead they blame themselves. "I'm not intelligent enough to figure out how to get my VCR to record a specific show." People involved with HCI are trying to figure out ways of making technology intuitive and easy to use.

My focus is in web application usability - making web-based software easier to use.

I currently live in Encinitas, California (northern San Diego).
